Jakob Omrzel wins stage 12 of La Vuelta

Jakob Omrzel, the 20-year-old Slovenian cyclist from Bahrain Victorious, secured a solo victory during stage 12 of La Vuelta. The 166.6km mountain stage from Vera to Calar Alto featured five classified climbs, culminating in a decisive ascent where Omrzel attacked in the final 12km to distance Urko Berrade.

In the general classification, Enric Mas of Movistar strengthened his lead. Mas launched an attack on the climb to Calar Alto, finishing sixth and increasing his advantage over Primoz Roglic to 1 minute and 45 seconds.

Omrzel, competing in his first Grand Tour, noted that while tactical errors prevented a larger gap during breakaway stages, his physical condition remains excellent as he continues to discover his limits in professional racing.
