Jakov Pijaca at World Juniors; Ivica Vukman wins Kupa Oluje 2026

At the World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon (Hayward Field) from August 5‑9, 17‑year‑old Croatian javelin thrower Jakov Pijaca of AK Fortius Zadar recorded a best throw of 62.96 m in qualification, placing 19th overall and missing the 68.07 m mark needed for the final. The experience was highlighted as a milestone for the young athlete, with teammate Nina Vrdoljak also slated to compete in sprint events.

In Zadar, Croatia, the 15th "Pozdrav Domovini" road race and the 19th Musapstan cross‑country race were combined to determine the 2026 Kupa Oluje standings. Ivica Vukman (AK Alojzije Stepinac Zadar) won the 5 km road race in 17:17 and the cross‑country race in 17:52, securing the overall men’s title with a combined time of 35:09. Marta Grubić Paver (AK Fit Zagreb) topped the women’s rankings with a total of 43:38, earning the women’s Kupa Oluje title.
