Jakub Hrůša and Lukáš Vondráček to perform at BBC Proms

Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša and pianist Lukáš Vondráček are set to perform at the BBC Proms on September 1 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Accompanied by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the program will feature works by Czech composers, including Vítězslava Kaprálová’s ‘Suita rustica’ and Leoš Janáček’s ‘Sinfonietta’. Vondráček will also perform Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor.

Following the BBC Proms, Hrůša will focus on operatic projects. As the music director of London’s Royal Opera, he is preparing a new production of Wagner’s ‘Parsifal’, directed by Evgeny Titov, scheduled for October. Later in November, Hrůša will return to the Czech Republic for the Janáček Brno festival, conducting ‘Jenůfa’ with the Bamberg Symphony and the Brno National Theatre Chorus.
