Polish speedway Saturday: Grand Prix Challenge, youth finals and league showdown

On Saturday, July 25, Polish speedway will host three headline events. In Terenzano, Italy, the Grand Prix Challenge will determine the four riders who qualify for the 2027 Speedway Grand Prix, with three Poles – Maciej Janowski, Dominik Kubera and Kacper Woryna – among the contenders. In Bydgoszcz, the final of the Młodzieżowe Indywidualne Mistrzostwa Polski (MIMP) will feature the season’s top juniors, most notably Wiktor Przyjemski and Maksymilian Pawełczak, who are widely expected to claim gold and silver, though challengers such as Kevin Małkiewicz could upset the favorites.

The domestic league schedule also delivers a decisive clash in the Krajowa Liga Żużlowa: Lokomotiv Daugavpils (Latvia) face OK Kolejarz Opole, a meeting that may decide playoff participation for both clubs. Weather forecasts predict clear conditions across the venues, removing any external concerns for the races.

Meanwhile, the sport’s financial side remains under scrutiny. Veteran Robert Kościecha reflected on the salary boom, noting, “– Ile zarabiałem? Mało (śmiech). To jest przepaść,” and warned that clubs are increasingly stretching budgets to meet player demands. The combination of high‑profile competitions and ongoing economic debate underscores a pivotal weekend for Polish speedway.
