Jakup Krasniqi wrote poem during detention in The Hague

Jakup Krasniqi wrote a poem during his pre-trial detention in The Hague in May 2021, framed as an imaginary conversation with his mother to provide himself with emotional strength.

The poem was made public by his eldest daughter, Gresa Krasniqi, during an interview with Top Channel. In the handwritten verses, Krasniqi addresses his mother, asking her not to worry while describing the difficulties he is facing. He constructs her responses himself to encourage his own resilience, imagining her telling him not to give up and to face his struggles with honor.

The poem concludes with a wish for victory in his current struggle and a hope to return to his country soon to complete his work with pride.
