JAL and JR Hokkaido launch travel campaigns for Hokkaido tourism

Japan Airlines (JAL) and JR Hokkaido have announced the return of the ‘Higashi & Kita Hokkaido Campaign,’ running from November 1, 2024, through March 31, 2027. The initiative offers travel packages that combine JAL group flights and accommodations with JR free passes for unlimited train travel within specific Hokkaido regions.

Two types of passes are available through participating travel agencies: the ‘JALCP Higashi & Kita Hokkaido Pass,’ covering areas including Sapporo, New Chitose Airport, and Eastern Hokkaido, and the ‘JALCP Higashi Hokkaido Area Pass,’ which is limited to the Eastern Hokkaido area. These passes allow unlimited use of limited express and local trains, including the ability to reserve seats if availability permits.

In a separate regional initiative, Toyota Financial Services’ ‘my route’ app will begin selling digital coupons for the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line starting October 24, 2026. The package includes two round-trip JR tickets and 2,000 yen in digital coupons valid at participating stores in Ibusuki, Minamikyushu, and Makurazaki cities in Kagoshima Prefecture.
