Jalapa schools: Only six educational centers await renovations

In the department of Jalapa, Guatemala, only six schools have not yet undergone renovations, according to María Aracely Figueroa, the Departmental Director of Education.

Between 2024 and the current period in 2026, many educational centers have received interventions, some more than once. Of the 281 renovations scheduled for 2026, 273 have been completed, with eight currently in progress. The remaining schools have not been addressed, partly due to certain buildings being categorized as cultural heritage sites.

Renovation efforts have focused on essential services, including kitchens, sanitary facilities, and structural repairs to walls. The program aims to address diverse community needs through these localized infrastructure improvements.
