Jalen Brunson leads Knicks to first NBA title in 53 years

Jalen Brunson steered the New York Knicks to their first NBA championship in more than five decades, ending a 53‑year drought. He scored a 45‑point performance in the decisive game and was named Finals MVP, capping a postseason in which he averaged 28.4 points, 6.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds while the team posted a 16‑3 record.

Throughout the playoffs Brunson delivered multiple comeback victories, rallying the Knicks from a 22‑point fourth‑quarter deficit in the Eastern Conference finals and a 29‑point deficit in Game 4 of the Finals. Critics, including Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon and Warriors forward Draymond Green, had questioned his size and the Knicks’ roster, but Brunson declined to comment on the doubters.
