Jalen Duren and Detroit Pistons face contract impasse

The Detroit Pistons and center Jalen Duren are currently in a contract impasse. The organization has reportedly offered a five-year, $200 million deal, which Duren and his representatives have denied. Previous offers from the Pistons reportedly ranged between $180 million and $190 million over five years, sometimes including specific incentives such as weight clauses.

Duren has reportedly expressed interest in sign-and-trade options since June, though the Pistons have resisted these requests in an effort to secure him to a long-term deal. The Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks have emerged as potential suitors should a sign-and-trade occur. The Kings previously proposed a trade involving Domantas Sabonis, which Detroit declined.

As the deadline approaches, there is uncertainty regarding whether Duren will report for the team's media day. If a deal is not reached, Duren could potentially take a qualifying offer of approximately $10 million, making him an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
