Jalen Ramsey cites disconnect between Steelers players and coaches

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey has publicly addressed a perceived disconnect between the team’s coaching staff and players. Speaking to the media, Ramsey suggested that the coaching staff relies too heavily on playbooks rather than allowing players to adapt to the live flow of the game, particularly regarding new secondary members like Sean Murphy-Bunting and Terell Smith.

Ramsey echoed sentiments previously shared by quarterback Aaron Rodgers regarding the importance of player-led teams. He emphasized that veteran players on the field are best positioned to understand the game's nuances, which can be lost when players are forced to strictly follow drawn-up formations that do not account for modern offensive complexities.

Additionally, Ramsey addressed social media rumors alleging he colluded with former teammate Joey Porter Jr. to fake an injury during Porter's trade process. Ramsey denied these claims on X, stating he simply supports his peers and wants the best players on the roster to help the team win. The comments come amid a period of transition for the Steelers under first-year head coach Mike McCarthy.
