Jalen Washington Transfers to Tennessee Volunteers Basketball

Center Jalen Washington, a 6‑foot‑10, 245‑pound player who posted 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game for Vanderbilt in 2025‑26, has transferred to the University of Tennessee Volunteers for the 2026‑27 season. The move was made possible after a court‑ordered temporary restraining order granted Washington a fifth year of NCAA eligibility under the association’s new age‑based model. Washington becomes the second Vanderbilt player in as many seasons to join Tennessee, and coach Rick Barnes expects him to bolster the Volunteers’ rim protection and serve as a pick‑and‑roll screener. He will face his former team twice during the upcoming season.
