Jalil Hackett beats Sergiy Derevyanchenko by unanimous decision in New York

Jalil Hackett, a 23‑year‑old American prospect, earned a unanimous decision win over former world‑title challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a 10‑round middleweight bout at the Infosys Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York. The judges scored the fight 98‑92, 97‑93 and 96‑94 in Hackett's favour after he used a sharp jab, quick footwork and steady punching to control most of the contest.

Derevyanchenko, the 40‑year‑old Ukrainian veteran returning from a lengthy layoff, remained dangerous throughout, landing cuts around his eyes and delivering a hard shot in the final round that briefly staggered Hackett. Despite the late scare, Hackett recovered and avoided further trouble, securing the victory that marks the biggest win of his career while still showing areas for improvement before challenging top middleweights.
