Jalisco approves agricultural reforms and distributes 42 million pesos

The Jalisco Commission of Livestock, Agriculture and Rural Development has approved reforms to the State Cultural Heritage Law to recognize and preserve equestrian traditions as intangible cultural heritage. This includes protecting activities such as traditional horse parades and ceremonial equestrian skills common in rural communities.

Additionally, the commission approved modifications to the Agri-food Law and the Law to Guarantee the Human Right to Food. These changes aim to reduce food waste in markets and slaughterhouses by incentivizing the rescue of edible surplus and coordinating with food banks. Municipalities will be required to implement programs for collecting and channeling excess food.

In a separate development, the Jalisco Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) distributed over 42 million pesos to support the agricultural sector. The funding, distributed across 22 municipalities, supports various programs including Agroinnovadoras and Jóvenes del Campo de Jalisco, Jalisco Agro Sustentable, and Impulso Agro Jalisco. These resources target sustainable development, technological advancement, and support for women and youth in rural production.
