Jalisco authorities investigate police for excessive force and musical group for alleged crime apology

The Jalisco State Security Secretariat has launched administrative responsibility proceedings against 17 police officers following a protest regarding water shortages in front of Casa Jalisco on October 11. Security Secretary Juan Pablo Hernández González confirmed that 230 officers involved in the containment actions must testify before the Internal Affairs Directorate. The investigation includes five female operational commanders. The proceedings allow 30 days for the officers to present evidence and defense before disciplinary resolutions are issued.

The original protest involved citizens demanding clean water due to supply failures in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. The demonstration escalated when riot police used pressurized water and tear gas, an action Governor Pablo Lemus later characterized as an abuse of authority.

Separately, the Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into the musical group Clave Especial for the alleged apology of a crime. The investigation follows a performance at the Fiestas de Octubre where the group performed the song ‘El Toro Encartado’. The performance was interrupted by organizers after the lyrics were flagged, leading to a formal inquiry by the Vice-Prosecutor's Office for Specialized Investigation in Social Concertation.
