Jalisco authorities sanction Uber, DiDi, and inDrive over motorcycle transport

The Jalisco Secretariat of Transportation (SETRAN) has imposed sanctions on digital platforms Uber, DiDi, and inDrive for offering motorcycle passenger transport services, which the agency maintains is illegal under current state legislation.

As part of an enforcement operation, authorities impounded 41 motorcycles and issued corresponding fines to drivers. Individual drivers face penalties of up to 22,628 pesos and the seizure of their vehicles. The digital platforms themselves face economic sanctions of up to 200 Units of Measure and Update (UMA), approximately 22,628 pesos.

SETRAN stated that the companies had been formally notified in writing since October 9, 2025, regarding the illegality of this service. In response to the enforcement, inDrive committed to removing the motorcycle transport option within Jalisco within 24 hours. The agency cited road safety concerns and a recent criminal incident involving a motorcycle used via a digital platform as primary reasons for the crackdown.
