Jalisco deploys 40 school transport units for TSJ students

The Government of Jalisco has launched 40 new school transport units to benefit more than 3,200 students of the Tecnológico Superior de Jalisco (TSJ). The vehicles, acquired using the institution's own resources, will serve 16 academic campuses across various municipalities in the state.

The initiative follows an institutional survey of 9,468 students conducted in May, which revealed that 40 percent of respondents had considered dropping out of their studies due to transportation difficulties or costs. Additionally, 20 percent of students reported using more than three different modes of transport daily, and 93 percent indicated they would feel safer with an official school transport service.

The new fleet consists of Ford Transit vans with an 18-passenger capacity and Nissan Urvan vehicles for 14 passengers. Distribution was based on student population; for example, the Tepatitlán campus received one vehicle, while Arandas and Zapotlanejo each received three. These units aim to establish strategic routes to improve mobility and support academic continuity for students in the region.
