Jalisco electoral authorities face campaign complaints and budget talks
In Jalisco, political tensions are rising regarding electoral processes and oversight. Brenda Carrera García, a deputy for the PVEM, has filed a formal complaint with the Instituto Electoral y de Participación Ciudadana (IEPC) against Morena Senator Carlos Lomelí Bolaños. The complaint alleges premature campaign activities after Lomelí expressed his intention to run for mayor of Guadalajara during a press conference.
Simultaneously, Morena's state leadership in Jalisco, led by Erika Pérez, has requested that the IEPC delay significant decisions until a permanent president is appointed to the body. The party argues that decisions made without a full leadership structure lack legal certainty and impartiality.
In response to these administrative and political shifts, IEPC counselors have met with members of the Jalisco State Congress to discuss budget requirements for 2027. These funds are intended to cover ordinary operations, the organization of the 2026-2027 local electoral process, political party financing, and a mandated indigenous consultation in Bolaños.
