Jalisco health institutes announce expansions and service reopenings

Health institutions in Jalisco are undergoing significant operational changes and expansions. The Instituto Jalisciense de Cancerología has requested a budget increase of approximately 10% to expand its capacity from 100 to 150 beds. Jalisco Health Secretary Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez stated that while current services are not saturated, the expansion is necessary for the institute's development. The plan also includes upgrading diagnostic and radiotherapy equipment, specifically seeking a PET Scan and replacing a linear accelerator.

Separately, the Instituto Jalisciense de Cirugía Reconstructiva “Dr. José Guerrerosantos” in Guadalajara has resumed surgical activities following a two-month closure for maintenance and equipment replacement. The reopening is gradual, with four of six operating rooms currently functional. The closure resulted in a backlog of approximately 100 interventions and the suspension of over 600 procedures, including reconstructive surgeries for cleft lip, palate, and burn victims. A leaked price list for aesthetic procedures has also circulated, though authorities note that costs should be confirmed directly with the institute.
