Jalisco launches peace agenda and higher education coordination

The government of Jalisco has launched the 'Agenda de Paz en Jalisco' (Peace Agenda in Jalisco) platform. This collaborative initiative is driven by a citizen group including the Citizen Security Council, various universities such as the University of Guadalajara, ITESO, and Tec de Monterrey, and several civil organizations. The platform serves as an open repository to identify and coordinate efforts to build peace through themes like gender perspective, mental health, citizen security, and addiction prevention.

Gobernador Pablo Lemus Navarro emphasized that addressing the root causes of violence—such as forced disappearances and violence against women and children—is essential to creating environments free of violence.

In a separate educational development, the State Commission for Higher Education Planning (COEPES) has established five strategic working groups to coordinate the future of higher education in the state. These groups aim to align university actions with social and economic needs, focusing on innovation and technological adaptation. Participating institutions are required to present work plans by November 3 to help translate academic proposals into public policy.
