Jalisco reports 11.5 billion peso economic impact from 2026 World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup has generated an estimated economic impact of 11.5 billion pesos for the state of Jalisco. The tournament provided significant international exposure for Guadalajara and other destinations within the region.

During the 39 days of festivities, the FIFA Fan Festival in Guadalajara recorded approximately 1.72 million visits. While Guadalajara hosted four matches, the event's influence extended to landmarks such as the Historic Center and La Minerva, which hosted concerts, cultural activities, and mass match screenings.

The influx of visitors benefited several economic sectors, including hospitality, restaurants, commerce, transportation, and services. Following the conclusion of the tournament, the government of Jalisco aims to leverage this global visibility to attract long-term tourism, international congresses, and further investment.
