Jalisco transport authorities enforce motorcycle ride-hailing bans

The Jalisco Secretariat of Transport (SETRAN) has sanctioned 92 motorcyclists for providing passenger transport services via digital platforms, a practice currently prohibited in the state. Authorities noted that while inDrive has suspended motorcycle services, platforms such as Uber and DiDi continue to offer the option despite formal notifications regarding the prohibition issued in October 2025.

Violators face fines of up to 220 Units of Measure and Update (UMA), approximately 23,462 pesos, and the potential impoundment of the motorcycle. SETRAN stated that special supervision operations are ongoing to reduce road risks and ensure transport services comply with current regulations.

Separately, the state has outlined requirements for 2026 driver's licenses. Applicants must visit a SETRAN module with official identification, CURP, proof of address, and blood type, and pass both theoretical and practical exams. Costs for a new B2 driver's license are set at 913 pesos, while renewals are 766 pesos, both valid for four years.
