Jamaat-e-Islami alleges ruling party patronage of lawlessness in Bangladesh

Jamaat-e-Islami leaders have accused the ruling party of fostering lawlessness and attempting to establish ‘one-party rule’ across Bangladesh. Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar stated that the government’s efforts to consolidate control have led to a severe deterioration in the country’s security situation, resulting in increased violence and disorder in both rural and metropolitan areas.

Shafiqur Rahman, the party’s Ameer and Opposition Leader in Parliament, alleged that mob terror is operating under the patronage of the ruling party. Following an inspection of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur, which was recently vandalized and looted, Rahman demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice. Jamaat-e-Islami has pledged to donate Tk50 lakh to help re-establish the damaged healthcare facility.

The party further alleged that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has established political syndicates across various administrative levels, from villages to districts. Additional claims included the selective appointment of government primary school teachers based on political affiliations and disputes over the distribution of agricultural resources and local allowances.
