Jamaat-e-Islami demands audit of Rs1.26bn MDCAT fees
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has called for an independent audit of approximately Rs1.26 billion collected in registration fees for the 2026 Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). In a letter to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Prof Dr Rizwan Taj, JI Karachi chief Monem Zafar requested a detailed breakdown of how the funds were utilized.
The party raised several concerns regarding the examination held on September 20, including the transparency of results, the accuracy of answer keys for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and the potential for result tampering. JI proposed that the top 100 performers undergo retesting by an impartial third party and requested that candidates be allowed to keep their question papers for self-assessment.
Additional grievances included inadequate examination facilities in Karachi, where only two centers were established for over 9,500 candidates, compared to higher center-to-student ratios in cities like Peshawar. Zafar also questioned the decision to assign examination arrangements in Sindh to IBA Sukkur and noted that local construction projects caused significant logistical difficulties for students.
