Jamaat-e-Islami leader demands seven-point reform in Bangladesh

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has called on the government to accept a seven-point list of demands before the movement escalates to a single-point demand. Speaking at a long march rally in Jessore, Rahman stated that these demands represent the will of the people rather than the personal interests of any political leader or party.

A central component of the demands is the implementation of a referendum result, which Rahman claims approximately 70 percent of voters supported. He accused the government of insulting the public by disregarding this mandate, noting that while parliamentary election results may have been compromised, the referendum result remains valid.

Rahman emphasized that fulfilling the first demand regarding the referendum is essential to addressing the remaining six points and building a fair, non-discriminatory nation. He warned the government to act with wisdom while there is still time to avoid public backlash.
