Jamaat-e-Islami leader fined in Sirajganj for fertilizer hoarding
A mobile court in Kamarkhand, Sirajganj, has fined Monirul Islam, a Naib-e-Amir (2) of the local Jamaat-e-Islami, 25,000 BDT after discovering 18 sacks of urea fertilizer at his residence.
The raid occurred around 1:00 AM in the Choto Dhopakandi area of Bhadra Ghat Union. Local residents alerted authorities after noticing sacks of fertilizer being transported to his home via an auto-rickshaw. Officials seized 900 kg of urea fertilizer, which had been obtained from a dealer for illegal hoarding.
The seized fertilizer has been handed over to the Upazila Agriculture Officer and will be sold to local farmers at government-regulated prices. Following the incident, the Sirajganj district Jamaat-e-Islami held an emergency meeting and suspended Monirul Islam’s party membership due to the violation of the law.
