Jamaica Fire Brigade saves $1.62 billion in property in St. Catherine

The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) reported saving an estimated $1.62 billion in property assets across St. Catherine during August. District Officer Christopher Brown provided these figures during a monthly meeting of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation in Spanish Town.

Firefighters responded to a total of 625 calls throughout the parish. The Waterford Fire Station recorded the highest volume with 228 emergencies, including 91 bushfires and 62 medical emergencies. The Linstead Fire Station responded to 130 calls, while the Spanish Town station handled 189, primarily consisting of 131 bushfires.

Local officials, including Mayor of Spanish Town Councillor Norman Scott and Deputy Mayor Councillor Ralston Wilson, commended the brigade for managing the high demand, particularly regarding the frequent bushfires in the region.
