Jamaica plans $2.3 billion redevelopment of Alpha Primary School

The Jamaican government is advancing plans to rebuild Alpha Primary School at an estimated cost of $2.3 billion. Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, announced that the project is currently in an advanced stage of the public investment process.

The redevelopment is part of a broader vision to re-envision the institution, which includes a proposed relocation and major campus redevelopment. The project aims to provide students with a modern learning environment. The opening of a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Lab and Resource Centre at the South Camp Road institution in Kingston marks the first completed phase of this initiative.

Minister Morris Dixon stated she will advocate for the project's inclusion in the National Budget and expressed intent to collaborate with the Sisters of Mercy and the local community to execute the redevelopment.
