Jamaica police charge Genasyde gang leader Tefari Green

Detectives from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Specialised Investigations Branch have charged 19 alleged members of the Genasyde criminal organisation, including its reputed leader Tefari Green (also known as Scoobs or Scrappy). The charges, filed under the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act, allege leadership of a criminal organisation and participation in a network responsible for murders, shootings and robberies between 2021 and 2026 in Kingston, St James, St Catherine, St Andrew and St Thomas.

Police say the arrests represent a decisive blow to one of the country’s most violent gangs. Green, already incarcerated on another matter, is accused of extending his influence from prison, maintaining links to gang members across the island and even to contacts in the United States. The operation also involved the National Strategic Anti‑Gang Division, which helped identify and apprehend the suspects.
