Jamaica reports cruise growth and prepares to host World Travel Week

Jamaica is experiencing significant growth in its cruise tourism sector, welcoming over 736,000 passengers across 234 calls during the first seven months of 2026. Deputy Director of Tourism for the Americas, Phillip Rose, reported that the most frequent calls were made to Falmouth, Ocho Rios, and Montego Bay. The government is currently working to diversify tourism by encouraging visitors to explore areas beyond traditional resort towns, such as Kingston and Port Antonio.

In October 2026, Jamaica will host World Travel Week from October 10–15 in Negril. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced that the event will bring together global tourism executives and hospitality professionals to discuss the future of travel. The gathering aims to address critical industry challenges, including climate change resilience, ensuring tourism revenue benefits local communities, and workforce development within the Caribbean.
