Jamaican journalist Dervan Malcolm passes away

Veteran Jamaican journalist Dervan Malcolm has passed away following a period of illness. Malcolm, a prominent figure in Jamaican broadcasting for over three decades, was a mainstay at Power 106 FM.

During his 31-year tenure at Power 106 FM, Malcolm held various roles, including news presenter, news editor, sports commentator, and executive producer. He was particularly well known for hosting ‘Both Sides of the Story’, a program dedicated to public education and meaningful discourse on issues affecting Jamaicans at home and in the diaspora.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness praised Malcolm as a ‘consummate communicator’ who used his platform to inform, educate, and empower the public. Tributes also came from his alma mater, Calabar High School, where he served as head boy and was remembered for his leadership and character.
