Jamaican Music Icons Bounty Killer and dBURNZ Honored in Kingston

Dancehall legend Bounty Killer (Rodney Price) received the Key to the City of Kingston from the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation and the City Council, calling the civic honour “more than a Grammy” and praising his hometown of Sea View Gardens for shaping his career.

In a separate ceremony, recording artist dBURNZ (Melbourne Douglas) won the 60th Jamaica Festival Song Competition with the anthem “I Love Jamaica.” The victory earned him the Festival Song title, a Best Performer Award and a share of the $3 million prize. Minister of Culture Olivia Grange highlighted the song’s patriotic message and announced plans to expand the competition for the upcoming 65th anniversary.

Both events underscore Kingston’s celebration of its musical heritage and the impact of local artists on national pride.
