Jamaica's APB recovers $17.6 million in stolen agricultural produce
The Agricultural Protection Branch (APB) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force has recovered more than $17.6 million worth of stolen agricultural produce, including cattle and goats, since January.
During a meeting in Clarendon, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tedroy Clarke reported that over 2,200 charges have been laid in connection with agricultural crimes. The APB, which was established in 2025, is tasked with combating praedial larceny to protect farmers and ensure national food safety through patrols, surveillance, and investigations.
In Area 3, which covers Clarendon, Manchester, and St. Elizabeth, officers conduct daily activities including farm visits, receipt inspections, and abattoir visits. DSP Clarke emphasized the necessity of farmer cooperation, noting that timely reporting of stolen livestock helps the branch identify crime hotspots and strategize operations.
