Jamal Adams suffers season-ending knee injury in Vikings preseason win

The Minnesota Vikings defeated the New York Giants 13-10 in their preseason opener, but the game was marked by significant injuries to key players.

Vikings veteran defender Jamal Adams suffered a non-contact right knee injury during the second quarter while covering receiver Calvin Austin III. Adams was carted off the field for evaluation, and reports from ESPN and NFL Network indicate the injury will sideline him for the entire 2026 season. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed disappointment, stating the initial exam ‘does not look good.’

Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart also faced medical attention after absorbing a heavy hit from Vikings safety Jay Ward. Dart was sent to the sideline medical tent for a concussion evaluation, marking his sixth such check within a year. Despite the scare, Dart cleared protocol and returned to the game, eventually throwing a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Malachi Fields.

Other notable developments included the preseason debut of Kyler Murray as the Vikings' starting quarterback and Odell Beckham Jr.'s return to the Giants, where he is currently competing for a roster spot.
