Jamal Adams to miss 2026 season with torn quadriceps tendon
Minnesota Vikings defender Jamal Adams will miss the entire 2026 NFL season after sustaining a season-ending injury during a preseason game against the New York Giants. Adams, a 30-year-old veteran, suffered a torn right quadriceps tendon during the second quarter of the matchup at MetLife Stadium.
Adams was carted off the field following a non-contact incident while defending a pass play. Following the injury, the Vikings placed him on injured reserve. Head coach Kevin O'Connell expressed that he was ‘crushed’ by the news but noted that Adams will remain a presence within the organization to support younger players during his rehabilitation.
To address the roster vacancy, the Vikings have signed cornerback Bryce Phillips, an undrafted free agent formerly with the Kansas City Chiefs. Adams, a former All-Pro, had recently signed with Minnesota to bolster their defensive unit in a hybrid safety and linebacker role.
