Jamal Musiala reveals neurological diagnosis after two collapses

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed he is suffering from a neurological dysfunction following two collapses during pre-season friendly matches. The 23-year-old player experienced the first incident during a match against RB Leipzig and a second four days later while playing against Heidenheim.

Musiala addressed the situation on Instagram, explaining that he has been diagnosed with brief, temporary, and treatable absence seizures. He stated that while the episodes may appear alarming, they are currently a part of his daily life and that he is receiving excellent medical care. He emphasized that there are no additional long-term health risks and expressed optimism about continuing his football career.

Bayern Munich officials, including honorary president Uli Hoeness and sporting director Max Eberl, confirmed the club was aware of the condition. Hoeness described the frequency of the incidents as a “tragedy” and a “drama,” but noted that neurologists have provided medical clearance for high-level athletic activity. Rival clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, have also expressed sympathy and support for the player.
