Jamar Smith retires from basketball, joins Pallacanestro Reggiana as advisor

Former basketball player Jamar Smith has officially announced his retirement from professional play. Smith described basketball as a vital component of his mental well-being and a significant part of his life.

Following his retirement, Smith will remain with Pallacanestro Reggiana in a newly created role as team advisor. This position, developed by General Manager Marco Sambugaro and coach Dimitri Priftis, is designed to facilitate communication between the coaching staff and the players.

As an American player with deep ties to the club, Smith will act as a liaison, particularly for international players, and may assist in the technical development of young talent. Sambugaro noted that Smith is considered an ‘adoptive Reggiano’ whose experience will serve as a bridge between the locker room and the technical staff.
