Jamaul Nicholls remains in custody over West Tamworth stabbing charges

Jamaul Nicholls, a 20-year-old from Moree, will remain in custody following a court appearance regarding a stabbing attack in West Tamworth on Christmas Day 2025. Nicholls faces charges of reckless wounding and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

During a mention in Tamworth Local Court before Judge Lucas Swan, the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) requested an adjournment to allow for ongoing negotiations regarding the charges. The DPP solicitor noted that only the wounding charge had been confirmed at this stage.

Judge Swan ordered a case conference in early October to finalize the charges. Nicholls, who did not apply for bail, had his bail formally refused. The matter is scheduled for a further mention later this month, with the defendant ordered to appear via video link from custody.
