James Acaster's band The Wow! Scenario releases debut single “Zacuti!”

British comedian James Acaster and longtime collaborator Graeme Wicks have finally issued the first single from their project The Wow! Scenario. The track, titled “Zacuti!”, was released in early August 2026 with an accompanying video on YouTube. It features vocal contributions from BC Camplight and Emma Daman and showcases a dense, jazz‑forward arrangement that shifts through multiple time signatures.

The single serves as a preview for the band’s upcoming album, Stand in the Star. A Verse and a Chorus, slated for release on 23 October via Bella Union. The album’s production spanned several attempts since the duo first recorded it in 2007, revisiting the material in 2018 and again in 2023 before finalising the mix. The Wow! Scenario, formed in 2004 in Kettering, has been described by the artists as “an acquired taste” and blends guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, piano, violin and layered vocals.

The release marks the first public output from the band after years of low‑attendance gigs and multiple re‑recordings, and follows Acaster’s earlier musical work with the collective Temps on the 2023 album Party Gator Purgatory.
