James Alie arrested for alleged arson and assault in New Castle County

A 22-year-old man, identified as James Alie, was arrested by New Castle County Police following a violent disturbance at a Cantwell Ridge home. Authorities report that Alie physically confronted a victim and allegedly threatened another with serious injury to prevent them from calling 911. During the incident, Alie reportedly assaulted a victim and seized their cell phone.

Several children and a victim managed to escape the residence to reach safety and contact emergency services. Investigators discovered evidence of a fire in a downstairs living area and determined that Alie allegedly started the fire while multiple people were still inside the home.

Police located Alie standing on the roof of a neighboring residence, where he jumped down as officers arrived. He faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated menacing and second-degree robbery, as well as several misdemeanors such as endangering the welfare of a child. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is also involved in the investigation regarding the arson allegations.
