James Cameron reveals how Kate Winslet landed her Titanic role
Director James Cameron has shared details regarding how Kate Winslet secured her breakout role as Rose Dawson Calvert in the 1997 film ‘Titanic’. Cameron revealed that Winslet, who was 19 at the time, used a bold personal gesture by sending him a single red rose accompanied by a handwritten note stating, ‘I’m your Rose.’
Cameron described Winslet as having a ‘very forceful personality’ that allows her to manifest her will, a trait he noted remains evident in her current work as a producer. He also highlighted the immediate chemistry between Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, noting that Winslet identified DiCaprio as the right actor for the role of Jack almost immediately after their initial reading together.
