James Carville attacks far‑left Democrats after primary upsets

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville delivered a harsh critique of far‑left and Democratic Socialist candidates who have recently unseated incumbents in U.S. primary races. He pointed to victories in New York, where Democratic Socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier and former NYC Comptroller Brad Lander defeated Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Rep. Dan Goldman, and in Colorado, where Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros beat Rep. Diana DeGette. Carville also singled out Michigan Senate hopeful Abdul El‑Sayed as an example of insurgent Democrats “running against both parties.”

Carville warned that these insiders “are part of the problem,” using explicit language: “These people are so f---ing stupid… you’re part of the problem because you’re a f---ing idiot.” He argued the left‑wing challengers threaten the party’s electoral prospects, likening their impact to the 2016 election and blaming former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for dividing Democratic voters. Carville concluded that the strategy of beating fellow Democrats, rather than Republicans, could backfire for the party.
