James Collins ranks Gareth Bale and Dimitri Payet as top teammates

Former Wales defender James Collins has shared his reflections on elite teammates and rising talent during an appearance on the ‘No Tippy Tappy’ podcast.

Collins identified Gareth Bale as the greatest player he has ever shared a dressing room with, citing Bale’s professionalism and ability to change games single-handedly. However, he singled out Dimitri Payet as the best player he ever played alongside during his time at West Ham United, noting Payet’s significant impact despite his controversial departure from the club.

Additionally, Collins commented on the development of Welsh international Neco Williams. He suggested that Williams is currently the only Welsh player capable of breaking into the England national squad and noted that the Nottingham Forest defender would likely be a starter for Liverpool if he had remained at the club.
