James Franklin creates awkward press conference moment

Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin created an awkward moment during a press conference ahead of the team’s upcoming game against Maryland. While addressing the media via Zoom, Franklin repeatedly interrupted reporter Michael Howes of the Baltimore Sun to insist on exchanging pleasantries.

Franklin uttered the phrase “Hey, Michael” five times before allowing Howes to proceed with his question. Howes noted on social media that because he could not see Franklin on the video call, the repetitive interruptions initially led him to believe there was an audio glitch. Once the exchange of pleasantries was completed, Franklin allowed Howes to ask his question regarding the coach's relationship with Maryland's Mike Locksley.
