James Gunn outlines long-term strategy for DC Studios

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has detailed the 8-to-10-year roadmap for the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). While confirming that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman remain the franchise’s “diamond characters,” Gunn emphasized a decentralized approach designed to elevate lesser-known figures.

Gunn explained that the strategy aims to transform characters such as Krypto the Superdog, John Stewart, and Peacemaker into major stars. The vision involves a balance between independent stories, similar to the style of “Guardians,” and broader narrative arcs like the Superman Saga. The goal is to ensure that while stories may contribute to a larger ecosystem, each individual project can function successfully on its own.
