James Gunn urges fans to watch 2025 Superman before Supergirl debut

James Gunn, co‑CEO of DC Studios, told fans on Instagram to rewatch the 2025 Superman film before the new Supergirl movie opens in theaters on Friday.

The 2025 Superman, starring David Corenswet, is currently available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Vudu, and it also streams on Max. The film earned an estimated worldwide box‑office total of $575‑$615 million.

Supergirl, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor‑El alongside Corenswet, has a projected North American opening of about $39 million, making its performance a key test for the DCU’s future.
