James Harden signs three-year extension with Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed guard James Harden to a three-year contract extension. The deal is valued at approximately $96.54 million to $97 million, depending on specific reporting, and includes a player option for the third season and a 15% trade kicker.

Harden’s arrival in Cleveland via trade from the Los Angeles Clippers in January significantly impacted the team's performance, helping propel them to a 19-7 regular-season record during his tenure and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. With this new agreement, Harden surpasses $500 million in career earnings, becoming only the second player in NBA history, after LeBron James, to have more than $90 million guaranteed at age 37 or older.

The signing was finalized following administrative moves by the Cavaliers' front office to manage salary cap constraints. By facilitating roster subtractions and acquisitions, the team worked to navigate the first-apron hard cap requirements to secure the multi-year deal.
