James Martin closes flagship Manchester restaurant
Chef James Martin has closed his flagship restaurant in Manchester after 14 years, ending a long-standing partnership with Manchester235. Casino operator Metropolitan Gaming confirmed that the Manchester operation has ceased trading and that its agreement with the television chef has concluded.
Metropolitan Gaming stated that customers with upcoming reservations will be contacted and promised refunds for all outstanding gift card balances. While the specific reason for the termination of the 14-year arrangement was not disclosed, the company noted that affected employees have been retained within its wider operations.
The closure does not impact Martin’s other hospitality ventures, as he continues to operate The Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds and The Kitchen at Chewton Glen in Hampshire. Additionally, his television career remains active, with ITV recently announcing that his program, ‘Saturday Morning’, will continue through 2027.
