James May auctions Triumph Stag used in 'The Grand Tour' finale
British presenter James May is auctioning his 1974 Triumph Stag MkII, a magenta-colored roadster featured in the final episode of 'The Grand Tour' titled 'One for the Road'. The vehicle was used during the presenters' journey through Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The car has undergone restoration, including work by Richard Hammond’s workshop, The Smallest Cog, to return it close to its original specification after production modifications were removed. Notable details include a speedometer from a MkI model, a modern Bluetooth audio system, and Hankook Optimo tires on 14-inch wheels. It is powered by a 3.0-liter V8 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
The auction is being held via the Collecting Cars platform. While the odometer shows approximately 83,368 miles, the seller does not guarantee the accuracy of this figure. Documentation regarding previous restorations was reportedly lost during television production.
