James McAvoy and Juno Temple to star in AI sci-fi comedy ‘Almost You’

Actors James McAvoy, Juno Temple, and Joey King are set to star in the upcoming science fiction comedy ‘Almost You’. Directed by Matt Lipsey, known for his work on ‘Ted Lasso’, the film is currently in production in Glasgow.

The story follows Phoebe, a robotics engineer grieving the death of her younger sister, Edie. In defiance of her employer's protocols, Phoebe uses social media posts, videos, and messages to create a lifelike AI replica of her sister. While the technology initially provides comfort, it eventually forces her to confront the ethical implications of using AI to resurrect the deceased.

Director Matt Lipsey noted that while the production initially intended to make a film about the future, the subject matter has become increasingly relevant to current technological developments. The film is being produced in association with Parker Films, Blazing Griffin, and Homefront Productions, with Bankside Films handling worldwide sales.
