James McAvoy, Juno Temple, and Joey King to star in AI comedy Almost You

Actors James McAvoy, Juno Temple, and Joey King are set to star in the upcoming sci-fi comedy Almost You. Directed by Matt Lipsey, the film is currently in production in Glasgow.

The story follows Phoebe, a robotics engineer grieving the loss of her younger sister, Edie. In violation of her employer’s protocols, Phoebe uses years of social media posts, videos, and messages to construct a lifelike AI replica of her deceased sister. While the creation initially provides comfort, the narrative explores the ethical dilemma of whether technology should be used to bring back the deceased.

Director Matt Lipsey, known for his work on Ted Lasso, stated that the film aims to move between laughter and heartbreak, treating the technology as a contemporary concern rather than a distant future possibility.
